Google Hangouts and Skype maybe are the most popular video chat lately. I ever use them both, so i will compare between Google Hangouts and Skype. At the first launch maybe we recognize that Hangouts is a part of Google Plus, just like Facebook Messenger/chat. And then Google ad Video Chat feature on the Hangouts as it is still integrated as Google Plus chat. Lately Hangouts become a stand alone application, for smartphones or tablets users Hangouts can be installed separately alongside with Google Plus.
As we all know Skype comes first when compared with Hangouts, and Skype is so popular at that time and still popular until now. Google Hangouts is a new products, at least when it compared with Skype. If you already have a Gmail, so you don’t need any registration to using Hangouts, just use your email and your email password to login on Hangouts. It will be lot better when you are active on Google Plus. So you already have some friends to chat with.
Google Hangouts is completely free application to use, there is premium version and free version, it is only a free version and its already have all feature. Text chat/instang message, video chat, screen sharing, integrated with Google Drive for sharing files, video sharing using Youtube, it is mostly can integrated with most of Google products. Google Hangouts have lots of benefits when you already familiar with Google products. There also a feature named “Live on Air” feature, which allows users to stream their chat live on their Google+ profile, YouTube account and any website with the YouTube video link embedded.
Skype now is owned by Software giant Microsoft. Skype comes with Free and premium version. Just like Google Hangouts Skype also have instant message/chat, video chat, file sharing, A premium version, at a cost to users, adds international voice calling and video conferencing with up to 10 users.
Both Hangouts and Skype have a great number of users, but remember, of the Skype users also use Google too, but not Google users they probably not using Skype. So The possibilities of Hangouts getting well known comparing with Skype is more larger. Hangouts and Skype both available for iOS, Android, and Windows, but Hangouts more compatible with all of smartphones or tablet OS. i’m having problem using video chat using Skype on my Android chat with my sister’s iPhone 5. Sometimes my sisters video didn’t showing up on my device, and sometimes my video don’t showing on my sisters iPhone 5. But when my sister installing Google Hangout, we can have a nicely video chat with no problem.
Google hasn’t released any specific statistics on the number of users who are engaging in Hangouts, although the company did announce back in December it had 235 million active users across the Google+ platform (meaning they are engaging in more applications that just the standard news stream) and over 500 million of its users have upgraded to a Google+ profile.
Seems like Google Hangouts win, great feature, most compatible with most devices, and all free version. And one thing that looks like what makes Google Hangouts stronger is, it is owned by Google. Android is also owned by Google, as Android is the largest users in the world. So there’s large users already own a gmail/google accounts.
